  5. In order to optimise the running of FlagTower titles the following changes may be required.

  9. Running defrag on your hard disk may help performance 
  10.  
  11. Run MEMMAKER 
  12.  
  13. Ensure that MSCDEX is loaded prior to SMARTDRV in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file
  14.  
  15. Ensure that MSCDEX Sector Buffer are set  to 16
  16.     Example: C:\DOS\MSCDEX /D:MSCD001 /M:16
  17.  
  18. Ensure SMARTDRV.EXE has the parameter 512 set
  19.     Example: C:\DOS\SMARTDRV.EXE 512 512
  20.  
  21. Ensure SMARTDRV.EXE CD-ROM Caching is disabled by adding the /U parameter to the Smartdrv line of the Autoexec.bat file
  22.     Example: C:\DOS\SMARTDRV.EXE 512 512 /U
